In the ''Livestock Biogas Plant Project,'' the livestock manure biomass gas power generation system can generate 2.828 million kWh annually using the manure of 2,270 cows.
Based on this example, a simple calculation based on the number of cattle in Japan listed in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries' livestock statistics (as of February 1, 2020) of 4,170,000 results in an annual power generation amount of 5.19 billion kWh.
The amount of methane generated can be increased by putting waste plants from nearby farms into a methane gas tank instead of burning them.
This methane is converted into solid carbon without emitting carbon dioxide using Turquoise's hydrogen production technology, which directly decomposes methane. The hydrogen produced is then used to generate electricity using a hybrid system that combines a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and a waste heat steam turbine. The electricity generated is sold to the power network.
